About Us

Our story begins with two sisters, Rachel and Christine, who were taught by their mother to sew. While Christine enjoyed some aspects of it, she didn’t take to it like Rachel.

Rachel fell in love with sewing, and over the years expanded her skills far past the dresses and more simple patterns that she began with. She started sewing different items, from doll clothes to handbags and everything in between.

She began to sew for other people and give these items as gifts. Every holiday, baby shower, and birthday was met with the question of “What will Rachel make?” Her skill and talent continued to amaze everyone and garnered orders for personal handbags and backpacks. “You should sell your items,” she was repeatedly told.

Christine, although taught the basics of sewing, could complete button replacements, simple hemming, and a straight seam curtain. Her one dress she sewed for her daughter often brought her to tears and many calls to her sister for guidance. 

Although not a seamstress, one aspect that Christine has is an eye for design. Whether it’s in designing a wardrobe or her home, she was often complemented with putting pieces and items together. 

After many years, and with the encouragement of Christine in being her business and design partner, Rachel decided to sell the items she has sewn, and Betsy Nicole Handmade was born.

From the selection of what items to include, to the colors and designs, to the finished product, every step of the way is crafted with our customer in mind.
